Unterweser nuclear power plant in Lower Saxony is operated by PreussenElektra GmbH. Commercial operation began in 1979. The plant was shut down on 18 March 2011. Authorisation for power operation in accordance with the German Atomic Energy Act (AtG) expired on 6 August 2011. The first licence for decommissioning and dismantling was granted according to section 7 (3) AtG on 5 February 2018.
