Other international conventions of relevance to the nuclear industry

Germany has ratified various international environmental conventions of relevance to the nuclear industry, including

  • Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention), adopted on 25 February 1991, as amended in February 2001, and the UNECE Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA Protocol) of May 2003
  • Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention) of 25 June 1998.
